Employment Services

HELP Employment Services assist individuals of all ages and disabilities navigate their path toward community employment. Employment Specialists help individuals focus on their abilities and walk individuals through a process of assessing their strengths and skills, building upon their knowledge to successfully enter the workforce. HELP collaborates with County Developmental Disability Boards and Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities.

Employment Services

Employment Services provides the following service options to persons with disabilities, which are not exclusive to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities:

COMMUNITY BASED ASSESSMENT (CBA)

Assess an individual’s job readiness and determines if a specific job would be an appropriate match.

WORK ADJUSTMENT (WA)

Prepare individual for employment by improving their job readiness

CAREER DISCOVERY

Help job seekers discover their career interests  

JOB COACHING /ON-THE-JOB SUPPORTS (OTJS)

Provides assistance to help adjust to new work environments

JOB DEVELOPMENT

Helps individuals with disabilities to secure jobs in the community by providing assistance with creating a resume, completing job applications, preparing for interviews, connecting with employers, and navigating the onboarding process once a job offer is received.

CAREER EXPLORATION (CX)

Helps individuals in exploring specific employment options, including shadowing and observing

SUMMER YOUTH WORK EXPERIENCE (SY)

Group-based service utilized to teach students and youth appropriate work behaviors

PRE-EMPLOYMENT TRANSITION SERVICES (Pre-ETS)

Provides assistance to students to help improve their transition from school to postsecondary education and/or community employment

HELP Employment Services provides a Job Coach for Summer Youth Work Experience at Lakewood Park Concessions and Susanna’s Café by HELP Harvest. Referrals are received through OOD for transitional aged youth with disabilities who are interested in working; for many, this is their first job experience, and they work alongside typical transitional aged youth in an integrated setting.

Transportation is available through HELP Employment Services.
